Robert Horry basically won his seven NBA titles with three different teams: the Houston Rockets, the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs.
- Horry won two titles early in his career with the Houston Rockets. Those teams featured Hakeem Olajuwon, Sam Cassell, and others. The 2nd title team also featured Clyde Drexler.
- Robert Horry won three more titles with the Los Angeles Lakers. Those teams featured Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant and others.
- Finally, Horry won his last two titles with the Spurs. Those teams featured Tim Duncan, Manu Ginóbili, Tony Parker and others.
Who Did Robert Horry Beat in the NBA Finals?
- In 1994, Horry’s Rockets defeated a New York Knicks team featuring Patrick Ewing, John Starks, Anthony Mason.
- In 1995 Horry and the Rockets defeated an Orlando Magic team featuring a young Shaq and Penny Hardaway as well as Horace Grant.
- In 2000, Horry’s Lakers defeated the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers were led by Knick Killer Reggie Miller, Mark Jackson and Rik Smits.
- In 2001 the same Lakers defeated the 76ers. Allen Iverson was the big star for the Sixers. The team truly did not have much around him.
- In 2002, Horry’s Lakers beat a New Jersey Nets team featuring Jason Kidd, Kenyon Martin and Kerry Kittles.
- In 2005 Robert Horry and the Spurs beat the defending champion Detroit Pistons. That team featured Chauncey Billups, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace and Ben Wallace.
- In 2007 the Spurs beat LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs roster was a very weak one outside of LeBron. Drew Gooden, Daniel Gibson and Sasha Pavlović got the most minutes for the Cavs in the finals after James.

Robert Horry had an interesting role for all but his last championship team. The stats below show Horry’s performance during the finals only.
As you can see, Horry was hardly some bench-warming cheerleader for these title teams. For all but his last title team, Horry played starter, or near-starter, minutes in the finals.
He also contributed to the teams in various ways. You can see that he did not dominate with scoring by any means, but he got boards, assists and even steals (which I did not include here).
At the same time, Horry was never one of the top two players for a championship squad either. In his first two titles with the Rockets, Horry was the third leading scorer for his teams in the Finals.
But beyond that he was often the fourth or fifth leading contributor to his teams statistically.
Some want to put Robert Horry in the Hall of Fame because he won seven titles and was 7-0 in NBA Finals. I argued here that, despite what Rudy Tomjanovich says, I don’t think Horry is a Hall of Famer.
But the stats below show that Horry was no passenger who lucked his way into rings either. He was lucky enough to be on great teams, but he was also a big part of helping those teams win as well.
